Synopsis: A love story between a middle-aged Chinese man and a Vietnamese girl who became mentally retarded after witnessing her father's killing. The backdrop is the Red River in Yunnan, next to the China-Vietnam border, where frequent cultural and social exchanges have profoundly impacted people from both sides for generations.

Gossip: Hong Kong actor Cheung Ka Fai said he will vote for himself in the Best Lead Actor race of the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards, the most influential industry event for the Chinese-language film scene.

Cheung Ka Fai, one of the five Best Lead Actor nominees for this year's Hong Kong Film Awards, is till now the best acclaimed actor by the film industry watchers. Hopefully he will beat five-time Best Actor winner Tony Leung and action star Donnie Yen - the two most competitive contenders in this category - to snag the final award.

Cheung obviously expects more than just verbal recognition of his 2008 film "Beast Stalker", in which he played a relentless villain. The actor said he will vote for himself, and many of his friends from the moviedom had cast their votes for him.

The Hong Kong actor's latest film "Red River", a collaboration with mainland director Zhang Jiarui and actress Zhang Jingchu, is due for rollout in cinemas on April 10th. The literary film also won him applause from the media during recent test screenings.

The presentation ceremony of the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards will be held on April 19th, next Sunday.
